Bookended by the First World War and the Third Reich, this period in modern Germany saw great cultural experimentation, but also extraordinary political turbulence. Using a variety of textual sources in the original language, as well as visual material and film, students will reflect on what makes the Weimar Republic essential for understanding modern Germany.
