Table O - Open Learning Environment
Table O lists the units of study offered in the Open Learning Environment (OLE). OLE units offer students opportunities to build novel skill combinations and extend their knowledge by exploring other fields of study.
Faculties offering OLE units
Students may take OLE units offered by any faculty. OLE units of study are offered through the following faculties:
- Architecture, Design and Planning
- Arts and Social Sciences
- Business School
- Engineering
- Medicine and Health
- Science
- Sydney Conservatorium of Music
- Law.
Degree requirements for OLE units
Students in the following degrees are required to take up to 12 credit points of OLE units:
- Bachelor of Applied Science/Bachelor of Advanced Studies (Exercise and Sport Science)
- Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Advanced Studies
- Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Advanced Studies
- Bachelor of Design Computing/Bachelor of Advanced Studies
- Bachelor of Economics/Bachelor of Advanced Studies
- Bachelor of Music/Bachleor of Advanced Studies (Composition)
- Bachelor of Music/Bachleor of Advanced Studies (Performance)
- Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Advanced Studies
- Bachelor of Visual Arts/Bachelor of Advanced Studies.
Refer to your Faculty Handbook for your specific course requirements, including the OLE requirements if a Dalyell Scholar. Note: Students in the Bachelor of Advanced Computing; and the Bachelor of Psychology have the option of taking OLE units in their elective spaces.
The 12 credit points of OLE units are to be assembled from two and six credit point units, found in the Table O unit of study table.

0 credit point OLE units are listed in the OLE Canvas website and are enrolled into through Canvas, not Sydney Student. The 0 credit point units are free for any University of Sydney student, completely online and are available throughout the year.
Some units have a matching 2 or 6 credit point version (allowing you to get a taste of the subject before enrolling in the credit point version).
