Environmental Studies
Study in the discipline of Environmental Studies is offered by the School of Geosciences in the Faculty of Science. Units of study in this major are available at standard and advanced level.
Program structure and content
Environmental Studies is the examination of the human interactions with the natural and built environment. It encapsulates the fundamental social aspects of sustainability, environmental assessment, law, ethics, development, energy use, economics and politics. Consequently, the ENVI units are complementary to studies in the physical and natural science disciplines as well as the social disciplines.
First year planning for an Environmental Studies major
Students are recommended to take GEOS1001/1901 and at least one of: GEOS1002/1902, GEOS1003/1903, BIOL1001/1911/1991, BIOL1002/1902/1992.
Please take note of prerequisite units for second year subjects.
Requirements for a major
For a major in Environmental Studies, students are required to complete a minimum of 24 credit points from Senior units of study listed in the subject area.
