Microbiology
Study in the Discipline of Microbiology is offered by the School of Life and Environmental Sciences in the Faculty of Science. Units of study in this major are available at standard and advanced level.
Program structure and content
The School of Life and Environmental Sciences teaches microbiology to Science and Medical Science students at the Intermediate and Senior levels. This discipline area prepares students for a career in Microbiology in fields of health, industry and basic research. In addition, it provides introductory units of study to students of agriculture, pharmacy and science.
These units of study will help students who wish to specialise in related fields where microorganisms are often used in studying life processes, eg biochemistry, genetics and botany.
First year planning for a Microbiology major
Essential: BIOL1007/BIOL1907/BIOL1997, 6 additional credit points of Junior BIOL and 6 credit points of Junior CHEM.
