A candidate for the Bachelor of Science (Extended) may, with the permission of the Associate Dean (Education), elect to discontinue study and graduate with a lower award from the embedded sequence, provided that:
(a)
for the Diploma of Foundation Studies, the candidate has successfully completed 36 credit points as specified in the course resolutions for the Diploma of Foundation Studies;
(b)
for the Advanced Diploma of Foundation Studies, the candidate has successfully completed 72 credit points as specified in the course resolutions for the Advanced Diploma of Foundation Studies.
4 Streams

Completion of a stream is not a requirement of the Bachelor of Science. The requirements for the completion of each stream are as specified in Table A for the Bachelor of Science (Extended)
5 Cross-faculty management
(1)
Candidates in Bachelor of Science (Extended) will be under the supervision of the Faculty of Science.
(2)
The Dean of the Faculty of Science shall exercise authority in any matter concerned with the Bachelor of Science (Extended) not otherwise dealt with in these resolutions
5 Admission to candidature
(1)
Admission to this course is only open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, who meet the process outlined in the Confirmation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Identity Policy 2015.
(2)
Admission to this course will be on demonstrated potential for tertiary study to a standard sufficient to undertake the course as demonstrated in:
(c)
evidence of a secondary school leaving qualification such as the NSW Higher School Certificate (including national and international equivalents), tertiary study or an approved preparation program
(d)
a portfolio of written work or support material including a personal statement of intent for studying the course.

English language requirements must be met where these are not demonstrated by sufficient qualifications taught in English.
(4)
Applicants are ranked ranked on merit and offers for available places are issued according to the ranking. Details of admission policies are found in the Coursework Rule 2014 and the Coursework Policy.
7 Requirements for award
0.
To qualify for the award of the Bachelor of Science (Extended), a candidate must complete 168 credit points, comprising:
(i)
12 credit points of units of study as set out in Table A Degree Core (students may count the units from their major(s) or minor(s) to fulfil this requirement); and
(ii)
12 credit points of 1000-level science elective units of study (excluding units listed in the Table A Degree Core) as set out in Table A (students may count the units from their major(s) or minor(s) to fulfil this requirement); and
(c)
a major (48 credit points) or stream listed and defined in Section 7 below and specified in Table A; and
(d)
a minor (36 credit points) or second major (48 credit points) as defined in Section 7 below and listed and specified in Table A or Table S; and
9 Programs, majors and minors
(a)
Completion of a major, stream or program from Table A and a minor or second major from Table A or Table S is a requirement of the Bachelor of Science (Extended). Requirements for completion of majors and minors are as set out in Table A of the Bachelor of Science and Table S.

9 Progression rules

Enrolment and progression for each candidate for a stream or program is governed by progression rules specified in the relevant Table for the component.
10 Cross-institutional study
0.
Cross-institutional study is available in this course under conditions specified in the Resolutions of the Faculty of Science.
11 International Mobility
0.
The Faculty of Science encourages candidates in this course to participate in international exchange programs as set out in the Resolutions of the Faculty of Science.
12 Course transfer
0.
A student may transfer from this course to the Bachelor of Science. Transferring students may only receive credit for any units taken from Table A of the Bachelor of Science, Table O (Open Learning Environment), and for relevant units of study in accordance with the course resolutions for the Bachelor of Science.
13 Credit for previous study
0.
Credit transfer is subject to the provisions of the Coursework Policy and the Resolutions of the Faculty of Science or, in the case of a major or minor offered by another faculty, any relevant resolutions of that faculty.
