Degree requirements
1. Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws
To be awarded the Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws, students complete units of study with a total value of 240 credit points (96 credit points in units of study from the University of Sydney Business School and 144 credit points in units of study from the Sydney Law School), comprising:
For the Bachelor of Commerce component:
- 24 credit points in core units of study (four units);
- a major (48 credit points) selected from the Table A subject areas;
- 12 credit points of units of study in the Open Learning Environment (OLE) selected from Table O; and
- a minimum of 12 credit points of elective units of study from Tables A, S, or O.
For the Bachelor of Laws component:
- 48 credit points in core law units of study (9 units including one zero credit point unit) to be completed in the first three years of the combined program in a specific annual sequence; and
- 54 credit points in additional core; and 42 credit points in Part 1 and Part 2 elective law units of study (96 credit points in total) to be completed over the remaining two years of the degree at the Sydney Law School, as set out in the Sydney Law School handbook. *
2. Bachelor of Commerce (Dalyell Stream) and Bachelor of Laws
To be awarded the Bachelor of Commerce (Dalyell Stream) and Bachelor of Laws, students complete units of study with a total value of 240 credit points (96 credit points in units of study from the University of Sydney Business School and 144 credit points in units of study from the Sydney Law School), comprising:
For the Bachelor of Commerce (Dalyell) component:
- 24 credit points in core units of study (four units);
- a major (48 credit points) selected from the Table A subject areas;
- at least 6 credit points of units of study in the Open Learning Environment (OLE) selected from Table O;
- at least 12 credit points of Dalyell Stream units of study selected from Table D; and
- any additional elective units of study from Tables A, S, O, or Table D required to make up 96 credit points.
For the Bachelor of Laws component:
- 48 credit points in core law units of study (9 units including one zero credit point unit) to be completed in the first three years of the combined program in a specific annual sequence; and
- 54 credit points in additional core; and 42 credit points in Part 1 and Part 2 elective law units of study (96 credit points in total) to be completed over the remaining two years of the degree at the Sydney Law School, as set out in the Sydney Law School handbook. *
*Note. After completing three years of the combined degree, students graduate from the Bachelor of Commerce and are transferred into the single Bachelor of Laws degree to complete their final requirements.

Degree with Honours
Both the Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws can be awarded with honours.
(1) Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Advanced Studies (Honours)
(a) suspending enrolment in the Bachelor of Laws for one year and enrolling in the embedded honours component in the Bachelor of Advanced Studies for an additional year of full time study; or
(b) by enrolling in the Bachelor of Advanced Studies and enrolling in an embedded honours component after the completion of both the Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws degrees.

(2) Bachelor of Laws (Honours)
For the award of Honours in the Bachelor of Laws, students must complete a supervised dissertation by way of elective units of study in their fifth year of study. An additional honours year is not required. For further details, students should refer to the: Sydney Law School Handbook.
Dalyell stream
The Dalyell stream is a targeted stream that offers outstanding students the opportunity to engage in challenging experiences to gain greater breadth and/or depth of learning in their degree, and achieve the graduate qualities to a high level.
Students enrolled in the Dalyell Stream must complete a minimum of 12 credit points of Dalyell Stream units of study (Table D). Dalyell Stream students also have the opportunity of completing optional Enrichment units of study as degree electives.

Subject areas for majors and electives
Major
A Bachelor of Commerce major consists of 48 credit points in 1000, 2000 and 3000-level units of study in a single subject area.
In the Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws students must select one major from the Table A subject areas offered by the Business School to fulfil the requirements of their degree.

Note. The Professional Accounting program is not available to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws. Students in this combined degree who wish to seek professional accreditation can still achieve this by completing the requirements outlined in the Professional Accreditation section in this handbook.
Electives (Tables A, S, O and D)
Students must complete at least 12 credit points in elective units of study from the subject areas listed in Table A (Business School) and Table S (shared pool). The available units of study are listed in Table A of this handbook and Table S, and/or Table O. Students enrolled in the Dalyell stream, must complete at least 12 credit points of units of study listed in Table D in the Interdisciplinary Studies Handbook.
Students enrolled in this degree also have the opportunity to complete a variety of standalone degree (Table A) elective units (those not counting towards majors etc.) working with industry and other community projects, study tours or exchange study at an overseas university. Law units of study
For the Bachelor of Laws component of the combined Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws, students must complete a 48 credit points in LAWS units of study in a specified sequence. Refer to the Law (combined) subject area for further details.
