ARTS2600 Internship 1
Credit points: 6 Session: Semester 1,Semester 2 Classes: 4x2hr workshops, 120hr internship Assessment: 4x400wd reflective journals (20%), 1x2500wd final project report (60%), workshop and online participation (20%) Mode of delivery: Normal (lecture/lab/tutorial) day

This unit is based around a project report arising from issues encountered during a 120 hour internship project and through a professional development program designed to provide students with the resources to enhance their intern experience.
Students are required to attend 4 workshops which cover: Australian business culture, management styles, cross cultural business communication, teamwork and reflective learning. An interactive approach will be used in the workshops to enable students to draw on their own experiences.
Each workshop will have a pre-assigned reading text and a related question. Students will be expected to answer the question on BlackBoard in 200-250 words and to comment on at least one classmate's post. These discussions will be continued in the workshops for which participation marks apply. Students will also be given a post-workshop article to be read as non-compulsory, supplementary input. During the students' internship placement, they will also complete 4 reflective journals and a final report.

FASS2100 Transformative Texts 1

Students in the Faculty Scholars Program extend themselves through intensive reading and searching discussion of challenging texts. Weekly lectures introduce the texts and set them in context. Students then explore the texts in depth in weekly seminars. The texts covered in this unit, the first that Faculty Scholars enrol in, are classics of literature and thought from a range of cultures and time periods. Critical engagement with these texts provides a foundation for subsequent units' exploration of more specialised topics.

Students in the Faculty Scholars Program extend themselves through intensive reading and searching discussion of challenging texts. Lectures introduce the texts and seminar discussions explore them in depth. The texts covered in this unit, which builds on FASS2100, Transformative Texts 1, are foundational works from a variety of fields studied in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. This work helps prepare students for the challenge of formulating and conducting an original research project in their final year in the program.
FASS3100 Directed Study
Credit points: 6 Session: Semester 1 Classes: 1x1hr seminar/week and 1 30-minute supervision every two weeks (on average) Prerequisites: FASS2100 and FASS2200 Assessment: 1x6000wds (or equivalent) Major Project (90%), Seminar Participation (10%) Mode of delivery: Normal (lecture/lab/tutorial) day
This unit complements and extends the broad and challenging reading in FASS2100 and FASS2200 by enabling students in the Faculty Scholars Program to pursue independent reading and research. Students work under the guidance of an academic supervisor and participate in regular seminars led by the program's director. The form of the written or other work produced in the course of the semester will vary according the disciplines concerned and the students' own ideas.
