Graduate Diploma in Global Health
These resolutions must be read in conjunction with applicable University By-laws, Rules and policies including (but not limited to) the University of Sydney (Coursework) Rule 2014 (the 'Coursework Rule'), the Coursework Policy 2021 (the 'Coursework Policy'), the Learning and Teaching Policy 2019, the Resolutions of the Faculty, University of Sydney (Student Academic Appeals) Rule 2021, the Academic Honesty in Coursework Policy 2015 and the Academic Honesty Procedures 2016. 2 Attendance pattern

The attendance pattern for this course is full time or part time according to candidate choice. Most units of study are available both in distance mode and face to face, therefore candidates choice will determine mode of attendance. Visa restriction normally restrict International students studying within Australia to taking a maximum of 25 percent of courses via distance mode.

The masters degree in these resolutions is a professional master’s course, as defined by the Coursework Policy.
4 Embedded courses in this sequence

There is no direct admission to the Graduate Diploma in Global Health. Admission to this course is available only by transfer from the Master of Global Health.
5 Admission to candidature
(1)
Available places will be offered to qualified applicants according to the following admissions criteria. In exceptional circumstances the Faculty may admit applicants without these qualifications who, in the opinion of the Faculty, have qualifications, evidence of experience and achievement sufficient to successfully undertake the award.
(a)
A bachelors degree with honours, or a graduate certificate or a graduate diploma from the University of Sydney or an equivalent qualification; or
(b)
A bachelors degree in the field of medicine, nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, optometry,
pharmacy, dentistry, veterinary science, psychology, biological science, medical science, international
relations, international development, education, social science, political science, communication and journalism, civil engineering, law, economics or mathematics from the University of Sydney or an equivalent qualification; or
(c)
A bachelors degree in an unrelated field, plus two years professional work experience in health or international development.
6 Requirements for award

The units of study that may be taken for the courses are set out in the Table A for the Master of Global Health.

To qualify for the award of the Master of Global Health, a candidate must successfully complete 72 credit points, comprising:

The Graduate Diploma of Global Health is awarded as an an exit award under special circumstances. To qualify for the award of the Graduate Diploma in Global Health, a candidate must successfully complete 48 credit points, comprising:

A candidate for the masters degree may elect to discontinue study and graduate with a shorter award from this embedded sequence, with the approval of the relevant delegate, and provided the requirements of the shorter award have been met.
