The Master of Education (Sports Coaching) program has been designed for elite-level coaches and experienced elite athletes seeking to become coaches.
Face-to-face and online delivery of units of study by highly respected academics and experts in the field is a feature of the course. Local and overseas students and a range of teaching settings contribute to a unique experience in and beyond the classroom. Participants have the opportunity to develop networks across a variety of sports.
The Master of Education (Sports Coaching) will equip you to apply a range of coaching principles and strategies to a wide and often unpredictable variety of coaching situations. You will acquire the capacity to:
- apply professional and academic knowledge in developing and implementing effective learning experiences in the field of sports coaching.
- examine the technological resources available to support the implementation of specific strategies in coaching athletes and teams.
- develop an integrated model with the right mix of training activities, coaching pedagogy and sports science to optimise athletic performance.
- effectively apply the principles of planning and competently implement, maintain, assess and amend the planning process on a macro and micro scale.
- demonstrate an understanding of the processes involved in talent identification, recruitment and development.

Master of Education (Sports Coaching)
To qualify for the award of Master of Education (Sports Coaching), candidates are required to complete a total of 48 credit points, including:
- a minimum of 30 credit points from this stream; comprising:
- a minimum of 24 credit points of core units of study;
- a minimum of 6 credit points of elective units of study; plus - a minimum of 6 credit points of capstone units of study; and
- a maximum of 12 credit points of postgraduate Education units which can be chosen from any Master of Education program
Graduate Diploma in Educational Studies (Sports Coaching)
To qualify for the award of Graduate Diploma in Educational Studies (Sports Coaching) candidates are required to complete a total of 36 credit points, including:
- a minimum of 24 credit points of core units of study;
- a minimum of 6 credit points of elective units of study; plus
- a maximum of 6 credit points of postgraduate Education units from any Master of Education program
Graduate Certificate in Educational Studies (Sports Coaching)
To qualify for the award of Graduate Certificate in Educational Studies (Sports Coaching) candidates are required to complete a total of 24 credit points, including
- a minimum of 18 credit points of core units of study; and
- a maximum of 6 credit points of elective units of study
