Prohibited units of study
ECMT1010 Introduction to Economic Statistics
No student in any degree administered by the Faculty of Science (including those degrees jointly administered by the Faculty of Science and another faculty) is permitted to undertake ECMT1010 Introduction to Economic Statistics. No exception is made for any student. ECMT1010 Introduction to Economic Statistics has been deemed mutually exclusive with MATH1005 Statistical Thinking with Data, MATH1015 Biostatistics, MATH1905 Statistical Thinking with Data (Advanced) and DATA1001 Foundations of Data Science.
If their degree resolutions allow, students may enrol into ECMT1020 Introduction to Econometrics or intermediate Econometrics and Economics units of study. These units are not deemed mutually exclusive with Science Table 1 and Science Table A.
Students wishing to complete an Economics major should take one of MATH1005 Statistical Thinking with Data, MATH1015 Biostatistics, MATH1905 Statistical Thinking with Data (Advanced), or DATA1001 Foundations of Data Science in lieu of ECMT1010 Introduction to Economic Statistics.
Any BSc/BA or BLAS degree students who have completed ECMT1010 Introduction to Economic Statistics before 2013 will be made an exception. They are permitted to count ECMT1010 Introduction to Economic Statistics towards completion of their degree.
Affected students should seek degree planning advice from the Academic advice and degree planning page or, for BLAS degree affected students, seek degree planning advice from the BLAS degree coordinators – (Science stream) and (Arts stream).
ECON1003 Quantitative Methods in Economics
No student in any degree administered by the Faculty of Science (including those degrees jointly administered by the Faculty of Science and another faculty) shall be permitted to undertake ECON1003 Quantitative Methods in Economics. No exception is made for any students. ECON1003 Quantitative Methods in Economics has been deemed mutually exclusive with units in Science Table 1 and Science Table A – namely MATH1111 Introduction to Calculus, MATH1011 Applications of Calculus, MATH1001 Differential Calculus, MATH1901 Differential Calculus (Advanced), MATH1906 Mathematics (Special Studies Program) A, MATH1021 Calculus of One Variable, MATH1921 Calculus of One Variable (Advanced) and MATH1931 Calculus of One Variable (SSP).
Students wishing to undertake ECON1003 Quantitative Methods in Economics should consider taking one of MATH1111 Introduction to Calculus, MATH1011 Applications of Calculus, MATH1021 Calculus of One Variable, MATH1921 Calculus of One Variable (Advanced) and MATH1931 Calculus of One Variable (SSP) instead.
Students in any degree administered by the Faculty of Science who have completed ECON1003 Quantitative Methods in Economics as part of their degree prior to 2014 shall be made an exception. They will be permitted to count ECON1003 Quantitative Methods in Economics towards completion of their degree.
BUSS1020 Quantitative Business Analysis
No student in any degree administered by the Faculty of Science (including those degrees jointly administered by the Faculty of Science and another faculty) shall be permitted to undertake BUSS1020 Quantitative Business Analysis. BUSS1020 Quantitative Business Analysis has been deemed mutually exclusive with units in Science Table 1 and Science Table A – namely MATH1005 Statistical Thinking with Data, MATH1015 Biostatistics, MATH1905 Statistical Thinking with Data (Advanced) and DATA1001 Foundations of Data Science.
