The University of Sydney Nursing School Handbook 2018
The University of Sydney Nursing School invites nurses and midwives, and those wanting a career in nursing and midwifery, to study with us. We offer an excellent range of nursing programs which are highly regarded by the nursing profession nationally and internationally. Our School has a reputation for academic excellence, quality teaching and innovative research, ensuring that students gain valuable knowledge and specialist skills which are current, relevant, marketable and responsive to community health care needs now and in the future.
University changes to faculty structure
In 2018, the faculties of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing and Midwifery, and Pharmacy became schools within a new, combined faculty called the Faculty of Medicine and Health.
For students in these faculties, current courses and units of study offered through the previous faculties will continue as the University transitions to the new faculty. Most of you will not see any difference in your day-to-day interaction with the University, however some administrative processes may change and the individual handbooks for Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing and Midwifery, and Pharmacy will be maintained for 2018.
Existing faculty resolutions, including award course resolutions, will transfer to the new faculty. The University of Sydney (Governance of Faculties and University Schools) Rule 2016 (324KB PDF) covers the management and governance framework for the new faculty. Any future changes to academic programs offered will be developed and approved through the University’s normal mechanisms involving the faculty, the Academic Board and the University Senate.
