The master's degree in these resolutions is a professional master's course, as defined by the Coursework Rule.
4 Embedded courses in this sequence

Providing candidates satisfy the admission requirements for each stage, a candidate may progress to the award of any of the courses in this sequence. Only the longest award completed will be conferred.
5 Admission to candidature
(1)
Available places will be offered to qualified applicants in the order in which complete applications are received, according to the following admissions criteria.
(a)
a bachelor's degree from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification with a minimum credit average in a relevant discipline; or
(b)
a Bachelor's degree with Honours from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification in an unrelated discipline; or
(c)
a combination of a Bachelor's degree from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification and relevant industry experience and certifications; or
(d)
completion of the embedded graduate diploma or graduate certificate with a minimum credit average.
(5)
In exceptional circumstances the Dean may admit applicants without these qualifications who, in the opinion of the Faculty, have qualifications and evidence of experience and achievement sufficient to successfully undertake the award.
6 Requirements for award
(1)
The units of study that are required for the courses are set out in the table of units of study: Graduate Certificate in Project Management / Graduate Diploma of Project Management / Master of Project Management.
(2)
To qualify for the award of the Graduate Certificate in Project Management a candidate must complete 24 credit points.
(a)
A candidate will normally complete the 24 credit points of Project Management Foundation units of study.
(b)
A candidate who has 3 or more years of relevant work experience may be permitted to substitute Advanced Core Competency units PMGT6872 and PMGT6871 for ENGG5205 and ENGG5820.
(c)
A candidate who holds a Bachelor degree with a credit average and who has 3 years of relevant work experience may be permitted to complete 24 credit points of Advanced Core Competency units.

To qualify for the award of the Graduate Diploma in Project Management a candidate must complete 48 credit points, including:

To qualify for the award of the Master of Project Management, a candidate must complete 72 credit points, including:

If a reduction in the volume of learning of 24 credit points is given, the candidate must complete a minimum of 24 credit points of core Project Management competency units of study, 12 credit points of research/capstone units of study, and 12 credit points of elective units of study.
(f)
If a candidate has completed the embedded Graduate Certificate and was permitted to substitute advanced core competency units, they must complete additional electives to complete the 72 credit point requirement for the Master of Project Management.
(g)
A candidate who transfers from the embedded Graduate Certificate to the Master of Project Management may be eligible to apply for RVL as per Section 8. Reduced Volume of Learning.
7 Majors
(1)
Completion of a major is not a requirement of the Master of Project Management. A major requires the completion of 12 credit points from units of study listed in the table for that major. The majors available are:
8 Reduced Volume of Learning
(1)
Candidates for the Masters of Project Management will be assessed for a reduction in the volume of learning at the time of application.
(b)
Hold an AQF Level 7 degree in a relevant discipline and can also demonstrate recent relevant professional experience of at least 3 years.
(3)
The reduced Volume of Learning will only be given for the Project Management Core Foundation units: ENGG5811, ENGG5205, ENGG5820 and PMGT6867. Candidates receiving the 4 units of study are not eligible to receive any further credit toward this degree course.
(4)
Candidates with some previous postgraduate studies or equivalent, who do not meet the requirements for a reduced volume of learning, may be eligible to apply for credit for previous study and should refer to the Faculty Credit Policy.
9 Cross-institutional study

Cross-institutional study is not available in these courses except where the University of Sydney has a formal cooperation agreement with another university.
10 Satisfactory progress
0.
Progression is subject to the Coursework Rule. A candidate who has failed to meet these progression rules will be transferred to either the Graduate Diploma or the Graduate Certificate in Project Management, depending on the credit points successfully completed.
11 Course transfer
0.
A candidate for the master or graduate diploma may elect to discontinue study and graduate with a shorter award from this embedded sequence, with the approval of the Director of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies Graduate School, and provided the requirements of the shorter award have been met.
