I. School of Economics subject areas

Econometrics

For the award of a major in Econometrics, students complete:
(i) 12 credit points in junior units of study: BUSS1020* (or ECMT1010) AND ECMT1020;
(ii) 12 credit points of compulsory senior units of study: ECMT2110 and ECMT3110; and
(iii) a 6 credit point 3000-level senior elective unit of study selected from: ECMT3120, ECMT3130, ECMT3150 or ECMT3170.
(iv) 18 credit points in elective senior units of study.
* For students enrolled in the Bachelor of Commerce and related combined degrees, BUSS1020 a core unit for the degree and should be completed rather than ECMT1010.
Please Note. Econometrics (ECMT) units are non-Business School units of study. All Econometrics units completed within in the Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Commerce (Liberal Studies) and combined Bachelor of Commerce degrees will count towards non-Business School unit allowances. For example, due to degree requirements, Econometrics units cannot be completed as part of the Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws.

Econometrics Honours A
12    P Students who want to take honours in Econometrics have to: (i) qualify for a major in Econometrics; (ii) obtain a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of at least 65 in all units of study in the degree; (iii) obtain a distinction average or better in ECMT3110 and ECMT3120; (iv) obtain a WAM of at least 75 in the senior units of study in the ECMT major. Variations on entry requirements are possible only with permission of the Head of School. Please see the School online homepage for entry requirements in detail.

Economics

For the award of a major in Economics, students complete:
(i) 24 credit points of junior units of study: (BUSS1020* (or ECMT1010), ECMT1020, BUSS1040* (or ECON1001) and ECON1002;
(ii) 12 credit points in compulsory senior units of study: ECOS2001 or ECOS2901 AND ECOS2002 or ECOS2902; and
(iii) 24 credit points in senior elective units of study (with a minimum of 18 credit points at 3000 level).
* For students enrolled in the Bachelor of Commerce and related combined degrees, BUSS1020 and BUSS1040 are core units for the degree. BUSS1020 should always be completed rather than ECMT1010. Students can complete both BUSS1040 and ECON1001, however it is not necessary and in all cases students should complete BUSS1040.
Please Note. Economics (ECON and ECOS) units are non-Business School units of study. All Economics units completed within in the Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Commerce (Liberal Studies) and combined Bachelor of Commerce degrees will count towards non-Business School unit allowances.
